I don’t know what I was thinking about when I wrote my post last evening. I succeeded in rearranging the topography of the Trent valley, implying that it runs downhill from the Humber to Nottingham!
Of course, it’s uphill, so after leaving the Stainforth and Keadby and joining the Trent we’ll be going up the locks, although the first won’t be encountered till Cromwell, about 40 miles upstream. Then we’ll be climbing all the way up the Trent and Mersey, following the river valley, until the summit level at Stoke.
Must have had a bit of a brainstorm. The error came to me when I was out on my run this morning. It’s amazing how a jog along in the crisp morning air can clarify your mind. I do some of my best thinking while letting my legs do the physical stuff.
Hiya Paul, oh yes, missed that. From henceforth it shall be known as Southfield or Sykehouse Junction.
Trip blog later.

Do you know I read your post and hadn't even twigged that you had said downhill instead of uphill !
Don't worry about it Geoff apparently it happens
occasionally to all us 'chaps' of a certain age... LOL
Ha! It's a pity that it wasn't April 1st. I could have claimed it was a hoax...
You know, I expected tons of comments putting me right. I was quite looking forward to them!
