After Mags’ T.I.A. on Friday evening she was doing well, but tired. Yesterday I moved the boat to Gurnett, Mags staying in bed during the trip. It’s more convenient to park the hire car here I’d booked for the trip to Wythenshaw and the T.I.A. Clinic tomorrow.
However, when we arrived she was not looking good, a bit slurred in her speech and her left arm was weak. So I called the ambulance again and we rushed her back in to Macclesfield General. No argument from her this time so she must have been feeling rough!
The upshot of the tests and assessment was that she’s suffered a full stroke now, not a major one though. They’ve admitted her for observation and further tests including a CT Scan, which will happen today. But the specialist nurse who checked her in yesterday was optimistic of a full recovery. We’re praying he’s right.
Our travel plans are on hold now, but I think there’s a strong likelihood of us berthing in a marina for the winter to let her recuperate.
Thanks to everyone for their good wishes and offers of support. We’re OK for the time being, though.

If you are looking for marina moorings on the Macc we have had experience of Lyme View at Adlington (exposed, very few electric hook ups) & currently, of Victoria Pit (opposite Braidbar at Poynton). Owners Iain & Luisa Bryceland are very boat-minded. There are electricity meters, water available from the tap by Bailey's Trading Post. Everyone is very friendly there & it's right below Lyme Park for walks & runs. Thoughts are with you,

We've decided to head down to Mercia Marina near Willington on the T&M as soon as Mags is discharged. We'll be wintering there to give Mags a chance to fully recover. We've friends and family in the area so will be well looked after. With Mags out of action I'll be effectively single-handed on the trip, but we'll go steady. I may take up one or all of the kind offers of assistance if we're struggling!

So sorry to read this, our thoughts are with you both. My (Al's) Mum had a bad TIA a couple of years ago, and after 3 weeks in hospital made a complete recovery. We didn't believe that would happen, but amazingly it did. I'm sure it will for Mags as well. In the meantime, look after yourself, give Mags a big hug from us, and if there is anything we can do, please shout. Take care xxx
